One of my favorite parts of Substack is when the authors to whom I subscribe send out their lists of recommendations and what else they’ve been reading/watching/listening to. These recs have brought me into a special feeling of community with other authors, cultural commentators, mothers and runners—all different pieces of my own identity outside my “wine world.” The expanding network of resources and inspirations has enhanced my perspective, at times validating and at others appropriately challenging my way of thinking and behaving. I live for that kind of shit.

And so I’m copycatting! Introducing: Muses. (N.B. I love an alliteration, so I’d really like to regularly release these mid-week, allowing me to call the posts “Mid-Week Muses”… we’ll see.) The below is a short synopsis of what’s been on my mind lately—wine and otherwise—as well as what’s preoccupying me or resonating with me, and what I’m reading/watching/listening to when I should really be working or sleeping.

ON THAT NOTE, I have been thinking a lot about how much I think about how much I should be working or sleeping! Some of my recs right now relate to this and tie into the wine industry because of the way we grapple with selling a product designed for leisure, but we do that selling in a way that is anything but leisurely…
